CEREC® Dental Crowns in Fort Smith, AR

dental crown in fort smith arIn a perfect world, everyone in Fort Smith would see their dentist for regular checkups and cleanings, brush and floss like a champ, and their smiles could combine to light up Memorial Stadium. But one thing we at Northside Dental understand is that our world isn’t perfect, and for many of us, that describes our teeth. So because our mission is to save teeth, we want to use the best restoration possible, and dental crowns fit the bill.

A dental crown completely covers a damaged tooth like a hard hat, creating long-lasting protection on all sides while keeping the natural look of your smile. Unfortunately, you need at least two appointments for many Fort Smith dentists to get a crown. But, using a special process called CEREC®, Dr. Simpson can cut that time in half.

How Can You Do a Same-Day Dental Crown?

Conventional dental crowns are usually made in a lab outside the dental clinic. So your first appointment has you measured for your new crown, and then you have to wait days or weeks to finish. But now, we offer a process that produces porcelain crowns while you wait.

This is called CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. In other words, this system makes attractive ceramic restorations (crowns, veneers, and more) that are both timely and cost-effective – a combination that’s hard to beat!

The Steps to Getting a CEREC Dental Crown

When Dr. Simpson recommends a dental crown restoration, he can create accurate impressions of your teeth using an intraoral camera which is easy and non-invasive. These images are fed into special CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design and Manufacture) software, so your crown will be an exact copy that Dr. Simpson can adjust to make it better.

Then, your crown design is sent to a milling machine that fabricates the restoration in layers of ceramics colored to match your smile. Next, the finished crown is checked and polished. Finally, Dr. Simpson prepares what remains of your damaged tooth so that the crown fits snugly. The time required varies depending on whether you need a front-facing tooth or molar crown, but your new restoration could be ready and in place in just a couple of hours.

CEREC® Same-Day Dental Crowns and Restorations

Porcelain restorations like dental crowns are the gold standard for fixing particular tooth damage with durable and attractive materials. When done well, they fit seamlessly with your smile. But using CEREC® same-day restoration technology, we have taken the crowns, veneers, and other restorations to the next level. What once took weeks we now accomplish in a few hours. With the combination of digital impressions, computer design software, and a precision milling machine, we can plan, design, and produce a quality ceramic crown or another restoration in just one visit.

In the case of a dental crown, a team member at Northside Dental acquires a high-resolution digital tooth scan to be transmitted to the CEREC machine's design software. Then, Dr. Simpson creates a 3-D design for your restoration, and a milling unit in our office transforms the design into a complete crown.

Our CEREC process has numerous advantages over traditional dental crowns.

  • No second visit
  • No messy alginate liquid impressions
  • No ill-fitting temporary crown
  • No lab delays or screw-ups

If you need immediate relief from a broken or infected tooth, a CEREC one-day dental crown or other restoration is ideal.
