Technology

The best technological advances are the ones that improve something fundamental about our lives. The team at Northside Dental uses this same idea when selecting from the newest dental technology, tools, and procedures. We want you to get the biggest bang for your dental dollar without anything extraneous. So we provide 'bread and butter' dentistry for our friends and neighbors in Fort Smith and communities.

CEREC® Same-Day Dental Crowns and Restorations

Porcelain restorations like dental crowns are the gold standard for fixing particular tooth damage with durable and attractive materials. When done well, they fit seamlessly with your smile. But using CEREC® same-day restoration technology, we have taken the crowns, veneers, and other restorations to the next level. What once took weeks we now accomplish in a few hours. With the combination of digital impressions, computer design software, and a precision milling machine, we can plan, design, and produce a quality ceramic crown or another restoration in just one visit.

In the case of a dental crown, a team member at Northside Dental acquires a high-resolution digital tooth scan to be transmitted to the CEREC machine's design software. Then, Dr. Simpson creates a 3-D design for your restoration, and a milling unit in our office transforms the design into a complete crown.

Our CEREC process has numerous advantages over traditional dental crowns.

  • No second visit
  • No messy alginate liquid impressions
  • No ill-fitting temporary crown
  • No lab delays or screw-ups

If you need immediate relief from a broken or infected tooth, a CEREC one-day dental crown or other restoration is ideal.

Nitrous Oxide

For pain and anxiety relief during your treatment without lasting side effects that keep you from working, nitrous oxide is an effective option. Also called laughing gas, this treatment works when you inhale it through a small mask over your nose. A dental professional will monitor the sedation level so that you begin to feel more relaxed and somewhat detached as you breathe the gas in. Your level of impact is adjustable so that you remain calm throughout, and we can perform your procedure without interference.

When we finish treatment, a team member stops the nitrous oxide, replacing it with pure oxygen, which you inhale for several minutes. This period will clear your head and dispel all effects of the gas. By the time you leave our dental office, you will be able to drive yourself home and even return to your job if that's your choice.

At Northside Dental, we want to remove the obstacles that might prevent you from receiving dental care, and we hate losing teeth.

Rotary Endodontics

When Dr. Simpson performs root canal therapy, he will do everything in his power to ensure a successful and comfortable procedure. Rotary endodontics is one of the most significant improvements because it replaces various sized manual files which we used to use to clear your tooth canals of infected tissue. This tool is powerful and precise, thoroughly cleaning your inner tooth.

Dr. Simpson has considerable experience using rotary endodontics. This allows him to choose the ideal tip so that the tool reaches all parts of your root canal, even if they are narrow and curved. In addition, a completely clean root canal will receive the dental sealant material, forming a solid bond that protects your restored tooth from further infection in the long run.

Panoramic X-Rays

In some cases, you need to see the big picture to find the best solution to a problem. When you need the big picture in dentistry, Dr. Simpson will take panoramic x-rays. While standard digital x-rays produce images of one or two teeth at a time, a panoramic x-ray creates a view of your entire mouth in one shot.

This image also shows more than just teeth. It includes your upper and lower jaws, your jaw joint, also called your temporomandibular joints or TMJ, and even a view of your sinuses. This helps us in diagnosing or planning for certain issues, such as:

  • TMJ disorders
  • Impacted wisdom teeth
  • Bone density for dental implants
  • Denture fit and design

We are proud to use multiple imaging tools to ensure we offer every useful treatment option available in Fort Smith, AR, and beyond.
